    We are seeking a Senior Architect to join our team of professionals in helping to create innovative and sustainable environments while building great relationships.

    SweisKloss is a full-service boutique design construct firm based in Santa Monica, California. The SweisKloss team specializes in residential and commercial architecture, interior design, and construction. Located just one block from the Santa Monica Promenade with views of the ocean and mountains from our open office layout, SweisKloss is a firm that is supportive of its team members, the community and the environment.

    Job Overview:

    You will be responsible for managing projects and project teams through all phases of design, as well as construction. A successful Senior Project Architect will complete projects on time, keep clients engaged, build and mentor an enthusiastic team, and enjoy working on creative and intricate design projects.


    Job Duties:

    1. Design and manage projects that are creative transcend norms and trends, and that result in a harmonious union between space and occupant

    2. Manage and mentor team members skilled in architecture, interior design, and construction management

    3. Communicate with clients on a regular basis

    4. Guide team through all technical and architectural aspects of projects

    5. Coordinate with construction teams

    6. Coordinate with agency representatives, conduct code compliance and zoning reviews, and prepare submittals for zoning, planning and building departments. Meet with governmental agencies or officials as needed.

    7. Perform Construction Project Manager role on some of your projects.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    1. Minimum 7 years’ experience in architecture or design build firm

    2. Have experience in residential and commercial design and a working knowledge of the construction process. Experience in construction administration is preferred.

    3. Have thorough knowledge of building codes and processes

    4. Be current on the latest building innovations, technologies and materials and excited to share that knowledge

    5. Have experience working directly with clients, managing vendors and leading team members

    6. Be able to communicate the design and design + construct process clearly with clients and team members

    7. Have professional verbal and written communication skills in person, over the phone and via email and text

    8. Experience in ArchiCAD preferred, experience with other BIM/3D software is desirable.

    9. Minimum Education: Bachelor of Architecture Degree

    10. License to practice architecture is a plus.

SweisKloss is a firm that is supportive of its team members, the community and the environment.


    Job Overview:

    You will be responsible for the on-site management of multiple construction projects and on-site construction project teams through all phases of construction. You will facilitate the completion of projects safely, on time, and on budget. And you will be relied upon to build and mentor an enthusiastic on-site team and enjoy working on complicated and intricate design projects.


    Job Duties:

    1. Establish project construction schedule. Maintain and update construction schedules for each project on a weekly basis

    2. Oversee jobsite safety requirements

    3. Coordinate and schedule all trades and deliveries

    4. Inspect trades’ work as to adherence to design & drawings

    5. Inspect product deliveries for accuracy and damage

    6. Schedule and walk through of agency inspections

    7. Document field construction progress using a web-based construction management system to maintain a daily log and submit written reports and photos on a weekly basis

    8. Create and manage the completion of the punch list to client’s satisfaction

    9. Monitor expenses and maintain budget throughout project

    10. Work with team though all technical and architectural aspects of projects

    11. Return all calls and emails within 24 hours

    12. Develop viable solutions to issues that arise and discuss with the project design team

    13. Study the drawings, understand the design intent and implement the fine details


    Skills and Qualifications:

    1. Minimum BA/BS in construction, architecture, engineering or a related field preferred but not required

    2. 15 + years industry experience preferred.

    3. Experience with high end custom residential projects is a must.

    4. Ability to read drawings and specifications required

    5. Must have excellent organization skills and be self-motivated

    6. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally

    7. Have experience working directly with clients, vendors, and design professional team members

    8. Have professional verbal and written communication skills in person, over the phone and via email and text

    9. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
