From a bathroom remodel or a kitchen upgrade to a backyard addition or whole house renovation, SweisKloss’s designers blend current trends with timeless creations and emphasize the client’s experience, comfort and personal preferences. As this is the end of the year, we thought we’d take a moment to share some of our favorite design trends of 2023.

Natural Materials - Designer and project manager Amanda has noticed a significant shift towards more natural materials as people are more conscious of the health impacts of synthetic materials. “Homes are starting to feel like an oasis that reconnects us with nature and gives us a healthy piece of mind,” she explains. She enjoys blending natural textiles such as organic cotton, linen, and bamboo into her accessories, opting for reclaimed wood or cork floors with organic wax or oil sealers, and incorporating natural stones and slabs like soapstone and quartzite for countertops.

Indoor-Outdoor Flow - The blending of indoor and outdoor spaces has been a SweisKloss design highlight for Tatiana, designer and assistant project manager. Open kitchens and dining rooms flow into spacious living rooms which blend seamlessly into outdoor patios and backyards. The use of tall windows, large doors, and skylights allow light to filter through rooms and create a sense of harmony with nature. Tatiana has extended this trend of blurring the lines between interior and exterior in her bedroom designs by building adjacent private patios that may include spas or outdoor showers.

Accessibility and Aging - Being mindful of aging and accessibility is a current trend that designer and project manager Patricia has accommodated in several recent designs. As homeowners age or move in with their grown children, spaces will need to be adaptable to address the realities of aging and limited mobility. In her renovation designs, she has added walk-in tubs, grab bars and seating in showers, widened steps, and has added an elevator. Patricia has found it rewarding to be a part of this design evolution creating spaces that are safe and aesthetically pleasing.
