Plastic Transformed

We are constantly talking about ways to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of plastic. Plastic has to go, but while companies and people are beginning to cut down, it is not disappearing anytime soon. Plastic is not biodegradable; it just keeps breaking into smaller and smaller bits and pollutes our oceans and rivers.

Upcycling>Upcycling is not a new idea, but more and more companies today are innovating new ways to reuse materials. Upcycling refers to recycling something in such a way that the new product is of higher value than the original item.

A few companies are taking the initiative to create beautiful and even luxurious products that reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and keep plastic out of the ocean. They have transformed millions of single use plastic bottles into shoes, handbags, hiking gear, and activewear.

We wanted to share a few of these companies that we came across that are giving plastic a new life after recycling that are worthy of our support.

Allbirds, Cotopaxi, Girlfriend Collective, Patagonia, Recover, Reformation, Rothys, Summersalt, Timberland

We encourage everyone to look for upcycled alternatives, reduce waste, and be more flexible.
