What could be more peaceful than showering under the stars? At this SweisKloss designed and constructed Westchester new build, the primary bathroom is “divine”.
With an interest in biophilic design, SK designed this contemporary bathroom to allow natural light to filter through the skylight and window, blurring the lines between interior and exterior and creating a sense of harmony with nature. Spanning the entire length of the bathroom wall, the skylight gives the effect that there is no boundary between bathroom and sky. A light in the skylight adds ambience when the sun goes down.
The Zen-like sense of calm is also achieved with the selection of natural shades of tiles throughout the space, and the large rectangular tub, which is perfect for soaking and unwinding. Evoking the look of natural stone, the porcelain tiles from Stone Source’s Otto collection used on the flooring were “inspired by the stone found in Nordic Lakes,“ and complement the natural shade of their Evo-Q collection on the shower walls. Heath Ceramic’s Classic Field tiles used in the shower niche complement the color palette but add texture and depth. The neutral shades of the tiles, along with the matte black handheld shower, tub faucet and accessories by Graff, and Ceasarstone’s Organic White slab, are in keeping with the client’s preference for a modern and minimalist style. The light wood finish on the vanity creates a touch of warmth, further nurturing the body and soul in this a peaceful and stylish bathroom.
