Helpful Hint of the Month: Caesarstone Countertop Care

Caesarstone countertops are known for their beauty as much as their durability. Crafted from high-performing materials, the premium countertops are largely resistant to cracks, scratches and stains. Due to their high density and non-porous qualities, simple regular maintenance and proper care will ensure your countertop looks great for the long run. Caesarstone recommends regular weekly cleaning: Use a damp cloth and a gentle soap or mild detergent, thoroughly rinse off with water and dry with a soft cloth. For an eco-friendly option, use a combination of 50/50 vinegar and water, rinsing and drying afterwards. Hones, concrete and rough finishes require more cleaning that Caesarstone’s polished finishes. Dark surfaces are also more prone to showing signs of daily living. However tough they are, Caesarstone countertops are not indestructible and accidents do happen. So, what to do? Caesarstone’s care and maintenance guide recommends:

• Spills and Stubborn Stains: Apply a common, non-abrasive gel such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel to a damp cloth (never directly onto the countertop), scrub the stain with a non-abrasive cloth, then rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. For oil spills, Dawn is recommended. For dried spills such as gum first carefully scrape away the excess material with a plastic putty knife and then clean with surface with a damp cloth.


• Metal Marks / Rust: Use Bar Keepers Friend Powder. Because of the abrasive nature of this cleaner, only use for spot cleaning.


• Chemicals and Cleaners to Avoid: Caesarstone recommends using cleaning products between pH 5-8. Avoid chemicals with pH levels outside this range such as oven cleaners, floor strippers, paint removers, toilet bowl cleaners, oil soaps, tarnish removers, furniture cleaners, dishwasher deterrents, etc. Should your surface be exposed to any of these products, rinse immediately with water to neutralize the effect.


• Heat: While Caesarstone can withstand very brief exposures to moderate heat, any stone can potentially be damaged by sudden and rapid temperature changes. Do not put hot cookware directly onto the Caesarstone surface. Using hot pads or trivets is always recommended.


• Avoid using sharp objects or knives directly on the surface, use a cutting board instead.
