For six years now the City of Santa Monica’s Buy Local agency has promoted a contest of the Most Loved Businesses in Santa Monica. It is a sweet and spirited competition that asks Santa Monica residents and visitors to vote for their favorite business in a variety of categories. This year we ask our readers to vote for us, SweisKloss, as Most Loved Independent Business in Santa Monica (#30 on the list). The Most Loved contest has gotten me thinking about how much I do love Santa Monica and the westside. We moved our design build business here to Santa Monica 19 years ago to be closer to a professional friend and mentor, the beach, and where we planned to make our home just two years later. Every time I look out my office window at the Pacific Ocean, I am thankful I made the decision to locate here. I love the sea, and I love the mountains, and I especially love that I can see both simultaneously from just about any point in downtown Santa Monica.
I love being within walking distance to almost everything. Great food at the Farmer’s Market just one block away on Wednesdays; good happy hours including a most amazing spicy cucumber margarita just downstairs from my office; charming entertainment like the street performers on the 3rd Street Promenade who I can hear from my office window; and inspirational storefronts and buildings of iconic design. It is a treat just to walk around.
