Soak in Style

Love is in the air this month so we thought we would share some bathtub designs that we love (you thought we were going somewhere else with this didn’t you?). What could be more indulgent than soaking in a claw footed vintage bathtub? How about soothing aching muscles in a jetted tub? Here are some bathtubs that will inspire you to pamper and treat yourself this Valentine’s Day.

Jetted Baths
Whirlpool or jetted bathtubs, and often referred to by the brand name Jacuzzi, feature jets and bubbles. There are two types of jetted tubs: whirlpool or air jetted. The main distinction is the sensation, with whirlpool’s jets providing a high-pressure massage while air jets create a gentler sensation. Regardless of the intensity, hydrotherapy has proven to improve circulation, promote healing and relieve tension, according to WhatSpa? “Hydrotherapy Health Benefits”. Some adjustable jets allow you to direct the pressure to target specific areas, other brands offer strategically placed jets and customizable options for a more a soothing massage.

Free Standing Tub
Brushed steel, cast iron, shiny copper, fun colors, roll-top, smooth and oblong, free-standing bathtubs come in a variety of shapes and styles ranging from antique to space-aged that are timeless, elegant, and charming. Vintage style or modern and sleek, free-standing tubs are a focal point in any bathroom. The three most common styles are the standard flat rim or roll top, the Slipper tub with one side raised higher than the other, or the Double Slipper with both ends raised for double the fun! A popular version of the free-standing tub is the vintage claw-footed tub which is classic and iconic. If more streamlined is your style, look for a pedestal or skirted base tub.

Hammock Baths
Ergonomically shaped, this sculptural and streamlined form of a bathtub is sophisticated and elegant. The curved sides provide support while the deep center allows an immersive soak. Filled with a floor standing faucet, they use less water than a standard tub. The Hammock can be wall hung or mounted with custom pillars; the water then drains into a floor drain beneath the hammock. Relax in the best of both worlds – soaking in a bath and lounging in a hammock.

One last tub recommendation…

Doggie Baths
We couldn’t leave out our four-legged loved ones. Consider installing a dog washing station in the mud room or laundry room. Washing stations include a small, raised bathtub, tiled walls or glass partitions, showerheads with long flexible handheld arms, niches for shampoos and treat canisters, towel rack, outlets for blow-dryers, and all at just the right height to make bath time safer for the dog, easier on the human’s back, and less messy for everyone.
